Started my course at the International Center for Photography. Today's lesson was using flash to freeze a moment or a person and isolate them from the background. Our assignment was to make it look like nighttime in the middle of the day by underexposing then using flash. We also blurred backgrounds by decreasing the shutter speed and flashed objects in the foreground to make them freeze in time. Then we used fill flash to improve our portraits. This lesson kicked my butt I must say. I'm excited to learn more about flash though.
